I took a look at this rice cooker a few months ago and am so far extremely impressed. Many people cook rice only very rarely because it can be a pain in the butt to do so on a stovetop but with this it is easy to cook rice and quinoa regularly and the results are always excellent.
For white rice this rice cooker does an amazing job with no thought whatsoever. For brown rice though the results are a perhaps little trickier and seem to rely very heavily on the quality of the rice you use, but as long as you experiment with the amount of water you end up with even better results than white rice!
Get the Water Level Right and You Are Set to Go
So what I have found is that water level is key. The instructions do state that one should vary the water level depending on the environment you live in and the moisture level of the rice you are cooking. I have found I actually have to consistently put less water than the measurement lines call for, and it took me a little while to realize this. If you pay close attention, you’ll have no problems. Don’t forget that water quality varies from region to region so this is to be expected.
Another thing I have found, like other reviewers have stated is that, (especially with brown rice), letting the rice soak for awhile before cooking makes a huge difference. If you have a regular schedule and can use the timer feature, that’s a great idea. Otherwise, if you’re planning ahead then you can plan properly to build in a decent soaking time.
Once learning the ins and outs of this cooker (and it’s really pretty straightforward), it’s easy to end up with amazing rice every time.
